A project set to revive a historical city in KSA by preserving the historical treasures and developing new uses with a new architectural language that is modern yet inspired by traditional Saudi local heritage.

PROJECT MAIN PRINCIPLES

This project is set to revive a historical city in KSA preserving the historical treasures and developing new uses with a new architectural language that is modern yet inspired by traditional Saudi local heritage.

The intervention emphasizes social integration through urban design, focusing on social activity, local economy, collective and cultural identity and an elevated awareness of the environment.

The overall architectural design is built on key sustainability principles – the preservation of existing heritage buildings, the implementation of natural light and ventilation, the use of local materials and the integration of new technologies that make the most efficient use of water and electricity.

There are many challenges involved in developing this project with the existing infrastructure and buildings that need to be preserved. It requires meticulous planning, development of new techniques, an extensive research process of devising new architectural language and unique solutions for sustainability in an historical environment.
